J Linz's Temperature Blanket!

Image
Alrighty! New blank slate! This is what I'll be doing for my temperature blanket project. You don't have to be exact; make it your own! Someone had stated to make sure that the colors blended well with one another. But if you want to make an ugly duckling blanket, who am I to judge? And besides: you might live in an area where the weather is bipolar and you're bound to end up with non-matching rows! First things first: pick out your temperature ranges and match them with the colors of your choice. I think I mentioned that this was actually the hardest part of the project. If not, yeah: this is the hardest part! Unless you're a meteorologist or someone whose brain holds on to useless facts, you're not going to know the average weather for your area. I mean, it's common knowledge that there is a slim chance Floridians will need to use the ranges of 30 and below. But for the rest of us, we're gonna have to look this info up! To be safe, I would use the entire...

2016 Major Project!

Image
I have a confession to make. I am a procrastinator. I spend way too much time lurking on Pinterest, pinning things from crochet and cross stitch patterns to Martian Manhunter pictures. Most of my pins, particularly the ones related to craft and food items, I've never made. I have good intentions, though! So, I had been seeing a lot of pins related to this temperature blanket. The pictures were pretty so I pinned them, telling myself that I would take a look at a later date, as always! It wasn't until my sister-in-law mentioned it that I was drawn back to it. She's not a crochet/knit person but she enjoys homemade items like that as well as DIY projects; she has the making of a quality remodeling queen! So, I took a look at the project last night. And it's a great way to start you off on a major crocheting, knitting project (I'll be honest: I've only seen it as a crochet project but I'm pretty sure you could knit it...? *shrugs*)! It's basically exact...

Dread Head Headband

Image
*originally posted back in 2014*      For a beginner crocheter, there is but so many things you feel that you can create. Getting to the “big stuff” (you know, your afghans and beautiful shawls) seems so far away in the future! But, the more you crochet, the more you learn! I'm a somewhat beginner crocheter and so I'm always on the lookout for something simple that I can whip up. I've only completed three things: a pair of uneven mittens, a travel case and a small tote (add the matching flower then I can brag and say that's four  things). So, when I saw this pattern for a simple headband, I jumped on it! The small, child tote... ... Matching flower! :D The one thing that caught my attention was the title of it: Dread Head. I've grown mine for a little over 6 years now; this hairstyle is more of a hassle than I originally planned for it to be: my hair grows so quickly that I literally need it done every two weeks! So, when I saw the title for this h...
