Working On Things

Of course, I've been working on several crocheting projects as well as writing. Here's a quick run down!

1. A friend of mine and myself decided to do a Crochet-A-Long, or CAL. The pattern we're using is this. The original post calls it a Free Throw but we've nicknamed it Stars and Stripes. Every day, we will crochet a round. I'm a bit faster than Punk Yarner but she tends to get tendonitis ever so often, I believe. Last time she crocheted like a bat out of hell, she was down for a few weeks. I don't want that happening again!

Today marks Round 12. I'm behind but I can easily catch up.

My desk is a yarn mess; don't judge me!!
If you would like to join, I offered the two links above. The first is a way to get to the actual pattern, the second is a link to Punk Yarner's Ravelry page. I have one as well J Linz 77! I'll ask her if she doesn't mind if others join in but I'm sure she wouldn't; the more people crocheting together, the better!

2. The next thing I was trying to work on was that temperature blanket. I've frogged and frogged and frogged several patterns for it and I think I'm just going to call it a loss. I simply can't figure out what pattern I want to do for it. You would think a simple blanket but I don't know. Maybe. Once I get in my mind what pattern I want to use, I'll stick to it. I thought that motifs would be best for it; they really do work out quickly. It's just joining them that's giving me hell. My best bet is to probably make this into some sort of throw and not a full blown afghan/blanket.

3. I frogged that Batman blanket. I will work on it at a later date, I promise.

4. The next project is one for my husband's nephew. It's a surprise so of course, he has no clue that I'm working on this!

He is somewhat of an activist when it comes to the black/African American race and culture. He's well educated in the matter. So when the whole thing about the confederate flag went down, he took it upon himself to alter it.

I have no idea what the letters mean...

I took that and made it into a graph, all thanks to Stitch Fiddle. I had to play around with it and alter it to make it easier for me to crochet it. The original plan was to chain 200+ and go from there but I found it easier to work it in sections.

Yeah, I know; I'll have to sew those pieces together: 25 to be exact. But it's a big project, which means I'll be working on it for a while. That'll give me plenty of time to hone that sewing skill, or at least figure out the best sewing method for it. Invisible seam should do...

This was my first try. I will have to redo this...
5. Lastly, I'm working on my mother's throw. I think I provided a link in an earlier post: the Crossword Lover's Throw. The idea is to work the motifs first, all 180-something white motifs, then the black ones. Do the gray border around the motifs and then stitch them together. A pain in the ass but here's hoping that it'll be fine.

Okay, a mini update! For that FMGYK afghan, I'll post a separate thread with the graph and instructions. Not too hard; HDC throughout the entire thing.

I don't believe that I'm working on any other projects. Maybe a few more beanies; my mom wants different colors of them. And I have a few graph patterns in Stitch Fiddle but none have been physically worked on. With that, happy crocheting, people!
