A Change of Plans...
Let's get it all out in the open: I frogged that mystery blanket. Again, I goofed somewhere in the midst of it; somewhere, I ended up adding 6 extra stitches. I was wondering why it was starting to waver and decided to count. Yeah... frogged. No worries; I WILL start over on it.
In the meantime, I did at least finish that baby blanket that I mentioned in the last post (the link can be found there). The pattern called for a chain of 108. That was my intentions... until I realized how large this blanket was going to be.
The one thing that I will start being with whoever decides to read my posts is honest. I had no intentions on making the child a blanket that will be with him for a long time; it's a long story which I will get into later. Plus, it was basically a last minute thing, anyway.
So, what I did was half the required 108 chain as well as the light blue rows. In the original pattern, it calls for 30, 3, 2, 3, 14, 3, 2, 3, 30. I did 20, 3, 2, 3, 10, 3, 2, 3, 20. I also only did three rounds for the edge and finished it with a reverse SC.
The original request was to have the child's name but remember what I said in the last post about letters being a bitch...? Yeah. Anyway; I started on this project November 27th and finished it December 5th. Not bad for having to frog it.
And I know I should've blocked it but I didn't have the time nor the materials to do so. One day, I will shell out the money to get an actual blocking board. There are cheaper ways to block items but when it really comes down to it, I don't have the room to do so. A shame because I have seen the before and after of blocking and it makes a project look ten times better, in my opinion.
I thought I mentioned it in my last post but I guess not. I've also made four hats using the Simple Crochet Beanie pattern. The first one was a trial run; my mom called me around 2 in the morning one time (mind you, we stay in the same house but I understood) asking if I could make a hat. We went through a few patterns until she found one she liked and I tried it out. Took me only an hour.
Not pictured is the one I did for my sister-in-law. So, yep; busy bee, I've been and I hope that everyone like their gifts :)
